Optimizing Building Performance Through Expert Testing & Balancing

Call to Action

Testing & Balancing Services

Testing and Balancing (TAB) ensures HVAC and hydronic systems operate in accordance with design intent, regulatory requirements, and performance expectations. At Inland Technical Services, TAB is a critical technical process that directly impacts energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and long-term reliability.

As the largest commissioning and balancing firm in the BC Interior, Inland brings decades of hands-on experience to every project. Our technicians apply industry-standard National Energy Balancing Bureau (NEBB) testing procedures, supported by calibrated equipment and independent verification.

A Legacy of Accuracy and Accountability

Founded in 1986, Inland established its reputation by delivering accurate, defensible testing and balancing results supported by practical, real-world solutions. From the beginning, our focus has been on precise measurement, thorough verification, and clear documentation that building owners, engineers, and authorities can trust.

That legacy continues today through a hands-on, independent approach that avoids contractor-led checkbox testing and instead emphasizes true system balance and performance validation. By verifying airflow, pressures, and system operation under actual operating conditions, we ensure building systems perform as designed—not just on paper, but in day-to-day use.

COMMERCIAL KITCHEN TESTING & BALANCING

Commercial kitchen testing and balancing is a critical step prior to gas inspections, ensuring that kitchen equipment and ventilation systems operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with local regulatory requirements and manufacturer specifications. Proper airflow, exhaust rates, and make-up air balance are essential for maintaining safe working conditions and preventing smoke, heat, and contaminants from migrating into adjacent spaces.

Our technicians also assess and troubleshoot existing kitchen ventilation systems when pressurization issues arise in kitchen or dining areas. By identifying airflow imbalances and system deficiencies, we help restore proper performance, improve occupant comfort, and support ongoing regulatory compliance without unnecessary equipment replacement.

THERMAL IMAGING

Thermal imaging is a powerful diagnostic tool used to identify issues that are difficult or impossible to detect through visual inspection alone. It can also be used to verify proper operation of mechanical and electrical equipment located in hard-to-reach or restricted areas, without the need for invasive access or system shutdowns.

Our technicians use industry-leading FLIR thermal imaging cameras to capture accurate temperature data and identify heat loss, electrical hotspots, insulation deficiencies, moisture intrusion, and equipment performance issues. When required, we also provide aerial thermal imaging using a DJI Mavic thermal imaging drone, allowing us to safely assess rooftops, building envelopes, solar installations, and large exterior systems with efficiency and precision.
